Preparing for Your First Support Meeting

Your first meeting with a support provider is mostly a conversation โ but a little preparation can help make it more productive. Think about what a typical day or week currently looks like, and where you feel extra support would help most.
It can also help to write down any specific goals you have, whether that's building particular skills, getting out into the community more, or simply having more consistent support at home. There's no need for a formal list โ general notes are enough to guide the conversation.
If you have an NDIS plan already, having a copy on hand (or knowing your plan manager's details) can help the provider understand what funding is available. If you don't have a plan yet, that's completely fine too โ many people have this conversation before their plan is finalised.
Finally, it's worth bringing any questions you have about how things work in practice: rostering, communication, changes to routine, or what happens if something isn't working. A good provider will welcome these questions.
